I have a personal love hate relationship with Twitter. I love that you can find out things quikcly and some people are amazing in the things that they share and post. With anything there are those that rock it and those that do not. I will be the first to admit I do not rock it. I have a hard time getting to the place I want to be using twitter, which on my scale is the Guru!
1. The Guru. This is the person who is using it to connect, not only to clients to but just to people in general. They are able to gather a following not becuase they give things for free but because of just who they are. They share funny stories, images, and quotes to inspire. They make twitter a fun thing to read and follow! This is what I aspire to become.
2. The Intermediate. This is the person who tries to use it and posts helpful information sometimes. The mostly use twitter as a way to gather business only. They have only posts that some how relate back to them, be it help me do this or who knows of a that. They share thier business links and links to other businesses, but they do connect with others, but in a less personal way. This is the person I don’t want to become.
3. The Novice. This is the person who will toss out a random tweet here or there, but mostly use it as a way to enter online blog contests (as most require well a tweet). This is me sad to say. I have tried, believe me I have tried, to be a Guru. I just have not found a rhythm and way to make it a easy part of my day. I never want to be the person who tweets every move I make, but would love to share in the fun happening on Twitter and to CONNECT with others.
4. The Lurker. This is the person who has a twitter account, but all rights never even uses it for a retweet about a contest. They just watch the fun fly by and are content with their place as observers.
So why you ask did I post this. I did is to point out that social media is here, and it’s going to stay and you have to figure out it it’s for you, if you want to use and and how. There is no right in wrong in being any of the four types of twitter user. What you have to figure out is which you want to be and how you want to use Twitter for your business or personal life.
